# anyone care to guess how my halloween was ruined?
No? Well I'll tell ya.

A friend of mine was bitten on the nether regions by a dog. I spent all of yesterday at the ER.
He got 8 stiches and lots of pain killers.

No Halloween boozing for me, no sir.
He needed a nice stiff one (no pun intended) after that was over and done with though.
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:40, archived)
# is it wrong to ask what he was doing to the dog that it bit him there?
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:41, archived)
# Being an idiot.
The dog was only being protective of it's owner. He deserved what he got.

And no, he wasn't exposed. He was bitten through his pants.

# haha
that sounds like a quality night out.

don't know what your complaining about.
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:42, archived)
# I missed the bands that I wanted to see.
That's really the only part I missed.
On the plus side, I now have a story I can tell for years and years to come.
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:44, archived)
# oops
I sat here and talked on the board
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:43, archived)
# to yourself,
shurely?
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:44, archived)
# worse than that
I was here
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:45, archived)
# there were a lot of people on
I was suprised
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:46, archived)
# I was suprised to find
that I was there too.

# very briefly
if I remember right
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:48, archived)
# That more than I remember.
The only evidence I have is some 4rthurs about beef...
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:50, archived)
# ah yes :)
I'm just going to send a lot more

misteralfie ate it for breakfast
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:52, archived)
# did he?
I'll remove him from my list of people not to kill then.
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:53, archived)
# nah
he's a nice guy.

He didn't know that he wasn't supposed to eat it
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:54, archived)
# I've yet to break the news to Tom yet though...
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:55, archived)
# It's probably bad that the person who lives closest to him
is the one that made the mistake...

It'll be ok. I'm going to send a lot and justie is going to help pay for it.

woo :)
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:57, archived)
# i hope
you were all wearing party hats at least.

(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:40, archived)
# yep :)
no way I'm going to try and make a windows one work. I'm not that dedicated
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:40, archived)
# It's not that frightening.
If I can do it then I'm fairly certain you could do it too, only 20 times faster and with infinitely more style.
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:42, archived)
# I know I could do it
but I don't want to

sounds like too much work
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:42, archived)
# yippee
now you can make all kinds of shit quizzes to amuse us all.

like this one
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:40, archived)
# hehehe
to actually make it serve, I need to get around my router

I'm working on it though
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:42, archived)
# blimey
how big is your router :\
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:42, archived)
# not very
I tried dyndns, but it just gives me access to the router setup, which I really don't want on the web...
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:44, archived)
# Did you ever
get your DVD Player working, by the way?
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:47, archived)
# nah
vlc sort of works. I can play the video files from it, but the menus don't work
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:49, archived)
# Might be worth having a look at
MPlayer as well. If that's no good, g'is a shout and I'll send you mine (I'm on Panther now, mind, so it may have been updated)
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:52, archived)
# I tried mplayer
it doesn't seem to do anything at all
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:52, archived)
# Pffff
These Mac things are rubbish. Let's chuck em all and get a nice PC World special.
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:54, archived)
# fuck that
i'm getting my amiga out
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:55, archived)
# noooo
I don't want to have to think about all of this configuration stuff and things.

I like being able to code things!
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:55, archived)
# the panther dvd player
is different and doesn't work in jag

i'd send mine, but i'm on lovely dial up and haven't got an eternity
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:54, archived)
# Ooh...
Thinking about it, the desktops still have Jaguar on them, so I could grab one from there
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:55, archived)
# I've got the panther upgrade thingy
I just need to burn it to a disk.

It might put a new one on...
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:56, archived)
# my panther cd
has been lost in the post

hurrah for apple store.
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:59, archived)
# umm
I'm not going to pay for it...
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 1:00, archived)
# And I'm not going to spend
3 years downloading it

:)
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 1:02, archived)
# Look on the bright side
At least you be won't trashing any external HDs any time soon
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 1:06, archived)
# it was ok with mine :)
..Expose does rock though, and the whole thing is nice and zippy too :)
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 1:10, archived)
# Yeah,
I didn't have any externals plugged in when I did mine, thankfully. Sounds like the Advice Notice that Apple are giving is bollocks though... lots of people are reporting problems with regular firewire drives, not just FW800s... :(

edit: and, yes, expose is ace
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 1:14, archived)
# doh :(
my least favourite moment was when iTunes 2 hosed my entire home directory a couple years back :(
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 1:16, archived)
# I might make a point of
setting fire to one now.
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 1:10, archived)
# i ran into that
when I was hosting from mine... typing the correct address on my local puter (behind the router) always called up the router config... visiting from any external puter showed the site. Using a proxy to view my own site worked for a bit, but proxies are a pain in the arse, so I gave up!

hope that helps though :)
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:58, archived)
# yay
thanks :)

I'll look up how to do proxies :)
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 1:01, archived)
# as long as you've got
port 80 (and *only* port 80) open on the router, it should be grand :)
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 1:02, archived)
# hahahaha.
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:42, archived)
# whereas the rest of us who don't know how to use php yet
use rob's handy dandy quiz thingie. which reminds me, I have a quiz to send to the newsletter this week.
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:44, archived)
# i'm
nuts

:|
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:44, archived)
# hehehe
you didn't need a quiz to tell you that
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:45, archived)
# Hmmm
Me too. It's either a fix, or unusually perceptive.
(, Mon 3 Nov 2003, 0:46, archived)
