Why a STATE visit, though?
It's sinking in now. Pres. Bush is the embodiment of all the satirists attempts to caricature presidents since the 60's all rolled into one. And he doesn't get it. Good job he can't take any serious decisions on his own.

It's a state visit coz it's election year next year
and the US Amabassador to the UK is a big mate of both the Queen and Bush. Therefore we are, as usual, being bent over and our butt-cheeks parted for the benefit of GW and some glossy pictures of him and the Queen which will impress the US electorate.

it's a state visit
becuase he gets to say hello to the queen. and as leader of a republic he is techincally the head of state there

But he's the first President since
Woodrow Wilson to have a State visit. Clinton never did nor did any of the others in the last 70 years who weren't quite so bad for this country.
