# You know what I've realised tonight?
I really wish Phil Collins made good music, 'cus he seems such a nice bloke.

# Well, he seems a nice bloke otherwise
Like John Peel, but a little bit dodgy, but still nice.

See how many drums he has? He's earned them.

(, Fri 21 Nov 2003, 19:58, archived)
# yes,

# i hope you're not suggesting
that ringo was a bad drummer?
(, Fri 21 Nov 2003, 20:03, archived)
# no

# he was an incredible drummer
it wouldn't have worked with anybody else.

# tell you what
I have to agree - I think that technically he`s pretty rubbish; his rhythm is awful a lot of the time, but there`s never been a drummer since who could play in that sort of style without you automatically thinking "Ringo rip-off" and it was definitely a key part of The Beatles` sound

<-- big Beatles fan

# it`s
probably a lot easier on the ears than the moaning and whinging when you do it in person...

...unlike phil`s music

# Sorry
but some of us find it a very worthy cause and salute the various celebs giving up their time for free to support Children in Need. So shut the fuck up

# Some of us
would rather not be reminded that we had to scrounge a fiver so I didn't run out of electricity and buy some bread, to go with the only thing left in my freezer (which happened to be sausages).

I'm sure you love the once-a-year chance to appease your conscience by donating, but I don't particularly enjoy being made to feel guilty for having no fucking money to donate.

# Rock on.
Power to the scroungers.

# damn right!
although I`d have to say I`m 100% guilty of the once a year thing myself... better go and give the kids some money now, considering the amount I spend on bloody cigarettes
(, Fri 21 Nov 2003, 19:54, archived)
# The kids would buy cigarettes.
Whaddya gonna do?

of the free speech argument. the line's a bit fuzzy...he might not like something you'd happily poke fun at.

because perish the thought that we should take some collective responsibility for the wellbeing of others on a full-time basis...

# yip
it`s a sad state of affairs in this country when people are taxed to the hilt, and still have to donate money because the governments have never been able to do their job and do something properly for the people of this country
