I think I'm going to lose the battle pretty soon, too. She's relentless.

base colour (dark cyan) vary light white for the highlights, black for the shadows and then two colours for the coloured lights (often blue/red or some other contrasting combination) so usually about 5 colours :)

this was the first drawing i'd done in years :) I've gotten a few tips now to do with proportion and layout so hopefully that'll help. You should give it a try, I think you'd do well. I'll email you some tutorials i found sometime if you like.

the above sketch - in fact I had done, I'd moved the features around to the correct positions and everything in photoshop... but it felt like cheating so i didn't save it
edit: i'm not saying theres anything wrong with retouching though, just avoiding it on my own stuff for a bit

as long as i am the one who is doing all the work. I know that i can do it just as well in either traditional media or digital, i just prefer to do the retouching in digital because it's easier to undo errors if i screw up somewhere, whereas if i am working with pencil it tends to smudge if i erase or with ink it's damn near impossible to correct an error

how wonderful! I'm saving that person in favorites there.... I thought for a moment that they'd 'shopped it, and I about gagged on my grapefruit juice. Then I saw that they'd painted it, so I'm not as utterly intimidated now... only slightly so.
/haven't had much chance to browse deviantart yet. only posted one crap thing there so far, actually.
crap, that's disorienting!
/and is that the good captain archer 'neath the wheelbarrow, per chance? do you hate that show as much as I? makes me ill, it does. better than the previous 2 crap versions, but still crap.
