I know how he did it...but I don't know how he manages to get such reasonable .gif sizes with such high quality results 8( (especially the minivan B&W one)

That is what I usually do...However, I have a sneaky suspicion that ImageReady has better compression than Fireworks (even if the quality isn't as good [or not])
