more freaked out that a) someone would search that hard for an email address (which is my name, which I've never disclosed in full!) and b) send me shit when they don't know me or my circumstances.

In all fairness if the mails are actual abuse and not a fucking childish scottish boy just being a twat then please feel free to contact me. You can forward me the mails and full headers and I shall inform his service provider of his breach of his TOS. I have done it before both for myself and for others when I ran a very big messageboard. I had the police turn up at one idiots door when he thought he was anonymous.

It's pretty sad that there comes a time that people need to be reminded that not everyone is a kid, some of us are grown ups who might actually give them a spanking.

But its cool that you can actually do that though. I just have to resign myself to accepting that if I ever met them in the street I could more than likely kick their fucking arses.

Zoot is completely right. If it's anything that would be considered harrasment to your face or through your door, the same applies with emails. You be the judge.

anyone determined enough could find you or me from posting on here, nevermind being a messageboard owner with access to logs etc.

most just use hotmail or something shit which log IPs and stuff. Emaling the email providers will halt their service. if you think its worse than that, ask them to see the police.

Might be just some drunken abuse but it showed no signs of it.
I'm going to discuss it with my uncle (is a copper) and get the living daylights scared out of him. And change my email.
Thanks though love, might need your help at some point :)

E-mail abuse is taken seriously if handled correctly. It does no harm whatsoever to inform an ISP of the abuse even if it serves only to shake the idiot up. I am happy to help and would also have my lawyer send the complaint. That works wonders.

I've had a few dealings with that kind of thing. Basically, if you present it correctly (i.e, not in a silly tabloidy hysteria internet stalkerish way) then you can get all the same kind of things done as if it were in real life.

it's a breach of privacy and breaks laws

point if anybody ever bothers to read their terms of service you will see that using their service to harras and abuse via any medium, be it mail, messageboard orwebsite hacking is a breach. Just 1 mail that proves abuse will have his Internet service provider dump him, it just has to be handled properly.
