It's not lingo, it's an instruction which the computer understands.

Lingo would be "tag" (which is what it is) or "html" which is what a "tag" is a part of. The tag itself is not lingo, it's more important than lingo. If you get lingo wrong, no-one really cares. If you get the tag wrong, it don't bloody work.
