# It's me .... in vector

except I did it in photoshop so its not really vector. bugger.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 16:48, archived)
# ooh lully
what are you meant to use to make vectors?
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 16:49, archived)
# Either
freehand or illustrator. Once they're made though its not hard to redo as vector, just a matter of tracing which I am far too lazy to bother with.

# A decent SVG (vector-based) program
Instead of one that's bitmap/pixel based.

Although most pixel based progs can produce shitty attempts at vectors it would seem.

# The b3tans
favourite would seem to be Illustrator but having said that Photoshop can manage good results once you understand the bezier pen tool. I believe firewoks can do them and so can paint shop pro ( though I've never tried ).
One of the lesser known but best at it is Xara X1 and the industry accepted standard tool for it is Corel Draw.

Edit:/ oh and I early forgot to say that Julian Opie is a no talent hoodwinking twat.

# Inkscape
is a free SVG program that I've just downloaded to see how it handles.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 16:58, archived)
# there also err... inkscape
www.inkscape.org/

I used it for about 10 mins on linux (available for windows and mac also) and it`s not bad, but too much for my small brain
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 16:58, archived)
# I don't know that many tools to be honest
as I only ever made ( well started to make, could not be arsed finishing it as it took me more than a day to figure out how to use Illustrator without manuals or a tutorial ) one Vector picture and considering the time taken and the twats that mentione her beard I won't be doing it again.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:03, archived)
# haha I thought it was great
and never mentioned the beard that may or may not exist

*gives you a big tickle and nicks one of your swords*
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:10, archived)
# haha
When I finally get to meet you at a bash I might bring you a Katana if you are good.

( a cheap replica and not a 19th century antique so don't get you hopes up ;))
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:12, archived)
# Kerry Katana?

blimey.. hope she doesn`t bring her kids
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:13, archived)
# depends,
are we having a chav bash? ( not a bad idea, imagine a load of b3tans in Burberry invading the Imperial, they would shit their nappies. )
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:15, archived)
# haha we have fanj-- he`s chav enough
(and will kill me for saying that) bless!
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:19, archived)
# Flash!!!

Use any other program and you will get cancer
of the clicky finger.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 16:57, archived)
# I'm a newbie to flash ( only loaded it once for a quick look )
but can you add layers and trace with flash? Interesting if you can as I have Macromedia Studio 8 sat here doing nothing.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 16:58, archived)
# yep - you can do all the layer stuff
tracing is a bit... odd, unless you just do freehand tracing

have a bash with it and see how it goes
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:04, archived)
# Yes
you can add layers and trace but I don't recomend it for purely making still images. If you got studio then I assume freehand came with it, in which case I'd use that.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:04, archived)
# no freehand
although it's easy to get. I have Dreamweaver, Flash Professional, Fireworks, Contribute, and FlashPaper in Studio 8.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:11, archived)
# what on earth is flash paper?
*nips to google*

edit: seems interesting, but it won`t let me see any of the examples since flash player 7 (mx2004 version) isn`t bloody good enough, and out of principle they can fuck off :)
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:14, archived)
# Don't know
but contact me privately if you require instructions on where to steal it from.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:16, archived)
# pfft
I was gay and bought studio 2004mx - was considering quitting the job and freelancing doing web sites and back end programming and stuff, but in the end I stuck with working for THE MAN
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:18, archived)
# If you can wait until
the Man Utd match goes off ( because I am streaming it from ESPN China for my dad ) you may get me on MSN and I'll send you Flash8 pro and a serial number via MSN if you like. 110MB @ 55Kb/s max.

Edit:/ doh what am I saying? Just download the trial yourself and I'll give you a serial number, they have more bandwidth than me.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:22, archived)
# you`re a bad man
ta for the offer, but I`ll stick with the legit copy so I can e-mail Macromedia regularly and tell them that their software is flakey shite
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:24, archived)
# I'm only half a bad man.
I buy all my software legit mainly for the support but I am also an old fashioned socialist and believe in sharing what I have with others if they can't afford them or think that food is more important. I make no apologies for this and will probably get done again ( was fined in 1999 for distributing abandonware, wankers don't care these days )
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:27, archived)
# I've trying out Flash 8
and I see little difference, except that it
allows you to trace jpg and gifs without
converting the to bmps.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:24, archived)
# it has blur effects in it I think
but they may be in mx2004 ... as you may have seen, I`m not a flash expert :)

dreamweaver is quite handy though, so for the cost of the two apps, it was cheaper just to buy the studio (he keeps telling himself to justify the bloody price)
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:26, archived)
# damn, you're right.
I hadn't even noticed.

"only works on text, movie clips and buttons"
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:34, archived)
# Yeah. Once you get used to it,
it is great for quick and dirty drawing.
Then you can export it as a png and add
blur effects or whatever in photoshop.

If you're a purist, I suppose Illustrator
or FreeHand is better.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 17:09, archived)
# RIS?
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 16:52, archived)
# Yeah
just ignore the cum on my shoulder, what can I say, I can't draw tags with a mouse.
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 16:53, archived)
# I like
the mysterious half-chain of doom that simply floats around your neck ;)
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 16:55, archived)
# chav :D
nice effort well impressed! who cares if its a vector or not! it looks cool!
(, Sun 11 Dec 2005, 16:56, archived)
# I get enough of this from my emo kid mates
honestly, you listen to drum n bass and drive around with a sub blastin out your car shoutin abuse at randomers and goths and suddenly you're a chav. ;)
