
I got started on the medium detail of this when the mouse pointer changed to the colour-drop thing, wouldn't click, and when I tried double-clicking desktop icons, it opened up their properties.
*shudders* and sorry i don't know how to help but it is most woo.

but I'd have thought that restarting would fix that.
edit: You don't have StickyKeys enabled do you? Tap Shift five times - it can sometimes go wrong and turn on even if you say no.
Or: Right click- What's in Bold? If it's anything other than what it usually is then your registry is bust. Use System Restore or Google it.
