# Does anyone else hear those violins?
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:01, archived)
# "Okay, I hear what you say, and it sounds like this;
Waaa! Waa! No one appreciates me! Waa! You don't understand my art! Pay attention to me! Waa!"
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:04, archived)
# You talkin'a me?
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:05, archived)
# I was joining in with you.

# There's no-one else here!
You TALKIN'A ME?!
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:10, archived)
# Heyyy heyy
you're talkin' ta me all wrong...

Do it again an ah'll stab ya in the face with a soldering iron!

# Fa' ghet aboud id.

# Get to fuck.
When I require attention I'll instruct people to give it to me.

I just got a shitty on because when most people are asking me to do portraits I offered to paint Rob's sprog and he dismissed it out of hand. I may as well just shop spongy eyes on birds for the rest of my natural.

# Maybe he just doesn't want a portrait?
Maybe he has a unique taste/his own opinion? It is OK for people not to like things you make, if they take 1 hour+ or not. I quite dislike the Eiffel Tower.
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:11, archived)
# Think about it
Rob could get pretty much anyone to paint his kid, you painting him then asking if he wants you to paint angus, it just looks like you're sucking up to him for whatever reason. Besides, you already said that you don't actually paint those, you just apply some filters to them, which kind of defies the point. It's not like they look especially good. No offence.

Secondly, simply by posting something, and especially by complaining no-one likes your work, you are asking for attention. Just because it's not explicit, doesn't mean it's not there.

(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:13, archived)
# One. You seem to take me seriously
two. I don't care what people think. I type to elicit a response.
three. I never EVER said I applied filters to my brushed artwork, you just assumed it. If I't's filters then reproduce it. I'm only having a laugh with my original post but being told I just apply a couple of filters? That pisses me off.
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:17, archived)

two and three are contradictory...

tracing is almost as bad
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:23, archived)
# lots of people have traced things...
surely it's the interpretive aspect that is important?
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:30, archived)

# *kicks andy warhol in the cunt*

# what am I tracing?
I've not traced anything in months and then only for vectors.

# I was giving you the benefit of the doubt
rather than assuming you just went over the image with dodge and burn tools...
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:35, archived)
# Don't presume that you can give me anything.
I have pencils older than you and whilst I have barely sat by and watched you ridicule others who try and create original works don't for a minute think I will put up with it when it's directed at me little boy. You would be better served putting your energy into creating something new of your own rather than gaining a reputation for slagging off the work of others.
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 5:01, archived)
# hahahah
what the fuck does that mean?

edit/ tell you what, when this amazing new "painting" style of yours makes you rich and famous, then and only then will I let you lord it over me. Until then, I will consider you a sad old man.
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 5:03, archived)
# wow, having read your posts, you seem like a whopping great cunt.
...

cunt.

# HAHAHAHA ROFLMAOZORDZ!!!!!!!1!!1111!!1!111!
i've just been slowly reading through this post and everybody had some sort well structured argument.
but this, is probably the best post here......
oooooh and i just pissed myself
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 10:43, archived)
# Haha!
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:20, archived)
# I'm sorry
I misread this post. My criticism would be that your portraits look uglier than the original images. Although, modern art likes that occasionally.
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:19, archived)
# And some people don't like modern art.
Now kiss and bum/make up.
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:21, archived)
# they are meant to look like that.
it's a kind of impasto style meant to look like acrylic paints.
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:25, archived)
# Can you let me know some how, by changing your username or something...
after you've completed the tutorial, if you ever do. Try submitting it anyway, it could still get in as it's useful to everyone even if Rob himself didn't want one doing.
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:26, archived)
# blur 22%
dodge, burn, blur again.
duplicate blend multiply, repeat. It gets there in the end.

# Oh.
Cheers, gonna have a go.

# I'm taking the piss.
Let me make a coffee ands I'll see if i can come up with something useable.

# making things aesthetically unappealing is hardly a new development in art...

# Rob isn't the most important person in the world
be glad that other people are asking you for them. Just 'cause he doesn't want one, doesn't mean you should stop.
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:17, archived)
# Who is?
I'm not being sarcastic, I'm just wondering...
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:54, archived)
# this is what you said to Rob:
"I'll do you a deal. I'll paint Angus' portrait if you promise to newsletter the tutorial I'm doing for the technique."

So you weren't just offering to make a picture, you were asking for something in return. If Rob had accepted, every mong who wants to see their name in the newsletter would have come out of the woodwork making similar offers. I don't think he had any choice but to politely decline.

(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:23, archived)
# Fuck me.
I was joking, when it was pointed out to me that I seem to be moaning I posted the portrait comment so as to validate my 'moaning'. I need to go to bed. Most people daytime just accept that I'm looking for a rise and just having a laugh
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:28, archived)
# so now you're having a strop about us having a strop because we thought you were having a strop about someone getting into a strop about your paintings?
my head hurts
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:32, archived)
# I'm not having a strop Lemony.
I'm all good. I just wanted to cause a little tumble as I am wont to do. I did not expect it to become some kind of mass debate.
I knoew people like my shit whatever the medium. Moaning that they don't has become 'de riguer' and I thought people would see the funny side. Now it just looks stupid and boring.
(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 4:35, archived)

# are you all insane?
He just said no, but thankyou for offering.

Having read this thread and the original posts, this entire argument really looks like you all needed to go to sleep and have a calm down.

Talk about blown out of all proprtion.
