Each frame only contains one image and the optimised version plays correctly, but when I save it this happens (imageready).

do you get a menu asking "Automatic, Do Not Dispose, Restore to Background" ?
Make sure it's not "Do Not Dispose".

and so I switched over to Fireworks, and I haven't had it since. But I'm still two iterations behind in both programs (cheap bastard).
