I just don't get it
why have a comp ideas board when it's obvious that nobody actually votes for the comps.
fraser picks the geeky shit comps of the day
making us suffer for another fucking week

I know.
This compo was a bad idea. Millions of iSuckAtPhotoshop entries.

Quite. I think the format probably goes
The highest voted ideas are considered, and if the powers that be don't personally deem them interesting enough, a substitute of their choice is picked.

and that substitute
always seems to be "if X ruled the world" compos.

hahaha yes. There is far too much g33k presence on b3ta as it is.
LET'S HAVE SOMETHING MACHO.

...because they know it will spurn the most entries, thereby making the compo look really successful
even though 90% of the entries will be rubbish

i remember rob saying a while ago
vote-y compos would now be run only every other week, the other times it's a dictator challenge.

can anyone remember the last time we had a votey challenege on the main board, or have I missed a few weeks somewhere?

when i say votey
i mean picked from the list of challenge suggestions.
It does seem that fraser picks them all the time, maybe the other time it's his own idea, not from the list.

thats what I meant as well
why not take, say, 4 ideas from the 'ideas board' every week,
post em up on the main board for half an hour, let the regular contributors who hang around on wednesday to see the new compo vote for it - in thread- and then go with that one.
i'd say picking 4 choices at random from the board wouldnt be that hard - but maybe im wrong?
to save a bit of time as well, when people suggest a new image challenege idea, they could produce a standard size image to try and captivate the 'audience' into thinking it could be funky, thus saving Fraser the effort of making 4 mini pics to post with the challenge when it goes up.
By getting people who make the challenege ideas to put a bit of thought into a 'mini poster' for the challenge, it will atract votes anyway

even when challenges were voted for the old way,
there were still people who bitched and moaned about them every week.

tis true, but at least we'd only have ourselves to blame....
and those that cared would have the vote anyway, as they are the ones who hang around on wednesday nights looking all shifty.
I must admit, i do feel sorry for Fraser having to put up with all us miserable cnuts at times
