# <rant>
she had a fucking awful time,
raped, beaten, never made a cent from a film that grossed millions of dollars, spent the rest of her life campaigning against pornography...
so how does that make her a legend?

# she was raped and beaten?
i didn't know that. i knew she campagned against porn, i didn't know about that oother stuff. maybe less of a legend then.

# i'd never actually heard of her
being young and innocent

but that obit thing posted yesterday said her husband forced her into it..

# damn
i didn't read abut it, someone just told me that she died. i always thought she'd done a bunch of films and then found God or something. i had also always wanted to watch Deep Throat just because of its status as one of the first films of its kind, i don't thik i'll bother now.

# Porn!
what is it good for?! absolu.... well, wanking probably.....

# i posted this but it disappeared cos someone else deleted their message
the porn industry is built around the exploitation of men, but no men have trouble with that, so its fine. it is only when cunts take advantage of impressionable young 'actresses' and stuff like that that it becomes this sordid nasty thing. i think porn is a necessary evil, aggressive young males need something to whack off to, cause the only other option most of them think of is violence. while a lot of people disagree with pornography, i think it makes the world slightly safer.

# We could always
get rid of the aggressive young males. Bring back gladiatorial circuses I say. Or have a nice big World War or something...

# oh, now i feel really bad about that joke.
I think lots of horrible things happen to lots of people in the porn industry, sometimes more dreadful than others, and of course that's a bad thing. I'm sorry for any offence caused.

# jeez
all getting a bit serious here. i cant see how it would cause offence, i think this has just degenerated into a moralistic debate. I think people should just stick to posting things that make me laugh. Come on, chop, chop, i want humour please, my work is depressing enough thanks...

# not offended
i was just questioning her status as a 'legend', that's all. i don't think she would have seen it that way.
(, Wed 24 Apr 2002, 10:18, archived)
# oh right.
Oh good, I'm glad. And I completely agree, too.
