# It's even naughtier when you do things like this, you realise.
Although apparently it's blasphemy when I look skywards and say things like 'Now I know you don't agree but it's not all about you so...' and 'Jesus Christ Almighty.... oh calm down, it wasn't that bad.'

I have a good relationship with 'im upstairs.

# this is not a criticism of you personally
but i really don't understand the need for religion at all
I just don't get it.

# to stop curious people going mad?
to keep law and order before the Police were invented?

to give an excuse for lazy men to wear big brown habbits
and doss about all day

# Aye, it's a boaty floaty sort of a thing.
Them that do, do (do dee do do do dee dee do), and them that don't, don't.

I'd rather people said 'I don't get it' than 'You're wrong and you're a twat' though. It's nice to have that live and let live sort of vibe.

# oh absolutely
i'd never do that, because science is dogma too (albeit, much more sensible, 'provable' dogma)
(, Tue 24 Oct 2006, 14:39, archived)
# And who ever called me sensible?!
Well, except my mother but she's ridiculous. She has the common sense of a wet piece of bread, the silly woman. completely fantastic most of the time, but on the big things she just breaks and becomes no.help.whatsoever.
(, Tue 24 Oct 2006, 14:42, archived)
# not really
a very common misconception. religion is dogma (i.e. an opinion handed out by an authority) but science is falsifiable i.e. capabale of being tested (and proven to be wrong) by observation or experiment.
it's pedantic but a very important difference to make. (especially when dealing with young earth creationist retards)

# People feel a need to be told what to do
And what easier way to do that than by having an imaginary friend who NOBODY CAN ARGUE WITH COS HE LIKE KNOWS EVERYTHING LIKE AND HE'S MORE POWERFUL THAN YOUR IMAGINARY FRIEND
(, Tue 24 Oct 2006, 14:37, archived)
# That's a rather overly-confrontational way of putting your opinion across
But hey.

# I have nothing against religions
but I must admit I find the mindsets of a lot of religious people comically baffling.
