Arthur Dent and Marvin the Paranoid AndroidSitting in a large basket that's floating down a wide river.
They have no control over this makeshift craft, and it simply follows the currents and eddies it encounters on this slow moving, majestic watercourse.
On the east bank of the river are numerous tea houses which are causing Arthur Dent to go a little crazed with desire and with the longing that the currents will take them close enough to the bank to get a nice cup of tea.
Marvin is more worried about the water oozing through the wickerwork at the bottom of the basket, which is causing the electronics in his leg to short and make it jerk like he's a mentaler. He's trying to decide if swimming to the shore and possible death would be preferable to listening to Arthur go on about how much he'd like a cuppa.
