# no swinging arms
just a deft flick of the wrist

and i'm sure you're well practiced at that

# sounds GHEY.
Besides, i'm perfectly happy with gaming on my PC at the moment, with the superior control of using a mouse. I've really missed FPS's and recently beefed my PC up to play games like F.E.A.R at top detail, and it's bloody great!

# PC GAMING!?!?
GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!

i only use my PC for professional means :D

there is not a single game on the 360 that makes me want
to purchase one, unlike the original Halo which was the only
reason i first bought my xbox, and it's the same with the PS3
it's all just same old, same old but in HD.

the best time in a consoles life is in the froes of it's death
the best system to own now is the PS2 and will
be for some time yet

# i'm not into role playing cack
Just games like Half Life 2, FEAR etc really.

And Rockstar conversions

EDIT:

Yeah I know what you mean. I bought an XBOX just for Halo, and a PS2 just for San Andreas.

The 360 is very uninspiring...there are only 2 games that appeal to me for it, and neither are even worth considering buying the console for.

All my pisstaking aside, i'm sure the Wii will be good fun, but I personally like what the PS3 has to offer more. But for the moment, PC based first person shooters are where it's at for me.

# and patches and countless bug fixing
because every developer knows they can get away with
releasing unfinished tat and fix it later.

I HATE PC GAMING!

Edit:
but the whole Blue Ray thing seems a mistake now
you can tell the general public are gonna jump on the
HD DVD wagon and the rest is betamax history

don't get me wrong, i'd love all three
need to find a better paying job first though

# the bugs etc can be quite annoying but luckily I haven't had too many problems.
Besides, to get the same high quality graphics/visual etc with a new generation console as I can get with my PC i'd have to invest in a HD TV and I really cannot afford it.

# yeah, but
how much more does a top-end PC cost compared to a console?

wait, I like PC gaming...

Obviously they are more versatile, useful and generally better, and there are very few good FPS's on consoles compared to PC, writing to B3ta with a SNES is a pain in the bum and there's no PlayStation World Of Warcraft.

# As I already had a decent PC and just had to buy a half decent gfx card it didn't cost too much

# I need
a new motherboard/processor and RAM.

looking for something relatively inexpensive yet gaming friendly with at least 2 gig, to replace my AthlonXP 2700 with 768mb RAM, which is beginning to feel coal powered.

Anyone know anywhere reliable doing good deals / just cheap so I can get the bits?

I already have the thermal transfer paste, so I'm halfway there.

currently I'm thinking of using

# "very few good FPS's"
how many do you want?
how many times do you want to play the same game with different visuals?

Halo, HL2, Battlefield, all on the consoles
i know mouse control is superior to the joypads
but then again it's unrealistically superior

plus it's easier to hack and cheat on PC shooters
and that's what really gets my goat, i used to love a
bit of Day of Defeat, but the cheats ruined it

# ah, sorry, should have said
I have "Spacky thumbs", therefore even games like goldeneye, a classic FPS of woo-ness, I am crap at and don't improve with practice.

It doesn't help that a friend of mine has anti-spack thumbs and once beat me and two other experienced players at a halo game (i.e. teams were 3 vs 1) without dying once. worst thing was it was capture the flag, and he did.

# the console versiona of PC shooters are ok, but they always seem to lack the original playability
and the gfx always suffer.

I also can't help physically ducking/leaning to the left or right as I take corners in driving games

# yes but...
the PS3 has dropped the rumble pack
(some say because of the law suit that's been dragging on for years)
and replaced it with a motion sensor....

and still they cannot create a better pad than the one they invented
all those years ago, ditching the PS3's prototype "banana pad"
for the standard PS pad with nobs on

and i bet the sticks are still dog shit for FPS games
