I've just this minute ordered my new AmigaONE XE G4! YAY!
Unfortunately, they've been swamped with orders, so it'll take a month or so to get through the backlog... BOOOO!

to run AmigaOS 4.
Also "less than 1Ghz" is meaningless; its a totally different processor architecture. In real world terms its faster than a 1Ghz P4.
Also, AmigaOS is a very, very efficient operating system. I currently run OS3.9 on a 50Mhz processor. In general use, the computer is faster and more responsive than the PC I use at work (which is in theory over 50 times more powerful). The only time you notice its a slower processor is when you have to do serious numbercrunching, like mp3 encoding.
If you're not an Amiga user at the moment though, theres not a lot of point getting an AmigaONE, its really an upgrade for us Amiga freaks. Watch this space, though.

probably lacking in software, no?
my Amiga 4000 isn't lacking in software. I've got 3 different browsers, a very good email program, great sound editing software (for my very expensive soundcard :), brilliant graphics products (like Photogenics, ImageFX, and Art Effect), the nicest operating system in the whole of the world, and I love using it and programming on it.
Probably not good for gamers though (although I personally think the amigas back catalogue of old games is much more fun than the crap churned out by software companies these days :)

that Tim "I wrote AmigaDOS, me" King of writing AmigaDOS fame said he'd send me one of the prototype A1000s......I wonder how he's getting on digging it out? Not very well, I suppose :) He DID send me an amiga phone though.
