# Get
KaZaA Lite and download Photoshop 7.... its free, and powerful as fuck ;)

# No, that's naughty
Software piracy puts up the price for the rest of us. Please don't encourage it..

# Don't worry about piracy
I could get a version of Photoshop if I wanted to, but it doesn't ever want to run on my compy.

# Software
Piracy dont affect people, greedy monopoly companies who make too much money and want more money affects people. i wouldnt have to get pirate software if the motherfuckers would make the products we can use cheaper in the first place.

# Yeah, right
And shoplifting is alright 'cause they claim it all back off rich insurance companies, and driving without road tax is fine too, because the government are fascist twats.

Theft is theft. B3ta does not encourage it.

# No wifey,
Your examples are completely different to Zyk0tiK's point!

He's right you know.

Imagine a b3ta artist who couldn't express their art 'cos they couldn't afford the tools.

There is no need for software to be as expensive as it is.

# I think
her examples were meant to be some sort of analogies.

# Oh please
These are the same people who get on their high horses if somebody elses image turns up in the papers, like its theft.

Second, yes Photoshop is a powerful as f**k and costs a lot of money because it targets a professional market, who are perfectly happy to pay for this very reasonably priced product. It is crammed full of stuff that has nothing to with kittens. If you can't afford then there is Photoshop Elements which is the one targeted at you, it will do the same job for 60 quid. If you can't afford that for your art, then I guess we'll all just have live with out it. You could try a pencil.

Third I hardly think Adobe is a monopoly and no company can afford for its products to be routinely stolen, not if it wants to stay in business.

# Well, if you want to get into semantics...
If you really think about it, people sitting around looking at fun little animated shit when they should be working could be considered theft. If I did have a job, I'd probably have been fired by now for playing on here so much.
(, Sun 26 Jan 2003, 11:49, archived)
# Indeed!
But how far can you take it?
(, Sun 26 Jan 2003, 11:53, archived)
# People have been
sacked for spending too much time here...

What I'm trying to say is that however you try to justify it, ripping off software is illegal. Yes, people do it, and it's not like it's murder or anything, but it's best to keep it off the nice, legal b3ta board..

# True
And I totally agree with you, 100% fact it is!

However, I hate it when people have to go without, when people like Bill and friends are rich beyond most peoples imagination.

# Actually Adobe
are on the edge. They're very close to going under - then where will we be?
(, Sun 26 Jan 2003, 12:20, archived)
# in hell.
I may not need a big, flashy program to make anything, but when I was taking graphic arts classes in high school I learned to animate off of Adobe. I can make videos with clay or crayons or a printing press, but the easiest shit I ever did was on the computers in high school.
(, Sun 26 Jan 2003, 12:27, archived)
# I would never have bought photoshop anyway at that price.
So they have lost nothing by me having a naughty copy.

# Nobby
I couldnt have put it more eloquently!

# Software piracy does what?
It doesn't put the price up for the rest of us at all. The price would remain the same regardless of whether people procured hookie versions for themselves.

Do you think the same about CDs? Nope. There you go then.
