As it stands it kind of sounds like they sent him a nasty letter and that was that.

I would really just like to know what legal footing the little bastard stands on.
I thought ordinary people got to make fun of who they wanted as a matter of parody, but aparently that's not so in your opinion?

the problem is trade mark infringement for the symbol, and potentially otherIP right breaches for things like album covers and the like.
Making the guy look like a twat is fair game though, unless it's libellous (which is really a stretch).
But the point is - the compo is practically over, the point is made, what's now to be gained by potentially having to spend money defending even the most frivolous of legal actions? We've had our fun, the guy's made himself look even more of a twat that he already did, and we're in the clear! Houpla!

I thought it was to challenge his ludicrous abuse of his fictious rights. Not just make a little more work for the drones looking for this stuff and then giving up when the inevitable nasty-gram came.
I'd say let the website go down, everything comes to an end and I think it'd be a fine place to let B3ta go down if that's how it went.
I know the owners are getting older and part of that is probably knowing when to bend your head, but really it's just a website for funny pictures. It's not a fucking car or something.

Fuck it, it was a laugh!
Best fun I've had for ages, I'm not gonna complain about it for a moment.
Plus, now we can take the piss out of Web Sheriff, and no doubt a new image challenge will be on the way to replace the losses.

Not that rob would condone what I'm saying, but they'd have to legally pursue each individual person that said, I don't know, for instance 'Prince likes to molest sheep that are not even fit for raping by NZ or Welsh standards'.

Now that the compo has been retracted Prince and his lawyers regularly entertain sailors on the docksides at night they are not accountable at all.
