# ha!
In Bavaria they have this weird law that if petrol stations sell booze, they can only sell it to people who arrive in cars - not people who walk in off the street.

A friend who lives across the road from a petrol station popped over the road to buy a bottle of wine and they refused to give it to him on the grounds that he didn't drive there.

So he went back across the road, walked up 5 flights of stairs to get his car keys, walked back down, got in the car and drove 20 metres to the petrol station and bought the wine.

It's something about 'protecting the youth from the evils of alcohol'.

I begged him to construct a life-size cardboard cut-out of a car and 'drive' in carrying it.

# Haha!
That reminds me of the time we walked through a drive-thru and they wouldn't serve us...even after we went back, fully arranged in car formation and mimed the steering wheel, winding down the window etc...

# Yeah!
It was really late at night, there was no one else around for miles...

...this is again why Burger King is better than McDonalds

# ha reminds me of driving into a service station off a motorway in italy only to find a full bar.
there was no restaurant at the station and the only way to get out that far was to drive there, you couldn't possibly walk. europe eh, it's faaaaaaaaantastic!

# Those kerrrrrr-azy Bavarians!
Reminds me of the the classic:

"Do you know they're building three new Mental Hospitals in Europe?, one in Portugal, one in Belgium, and they're putting a roof over Bavaria"
