I think the ad for cast must have been something like:
ARE YOU AN ACTOR? HAVE YOU READ ANY DOUGLAS ADAMS BOOKS? DID YOU LIKE THEM?
YOU'RE IN!

Mos Def was an.....interesting choice.
I love whatshisface as Arthur though, he's got such a nice quality.
The best bit about that film is the little mouse face when he shouts 'TAKE HIS BRAIN!' near the end.

i think i missed that bit
I was in Blackburn, my friend was working, so I went to the park, had a couple of spliffs, went to the cinema, and drifted in and out of slumber.

I'd watch it again just for that bit.
It's LOVELY.

A totally missed opportunity
no wonder Douglas Adams wouldn't let them make it while he was still alive.
I thought the casting pretty good all in all, including Mos Def, but what the fuck did they do to the story?

no
he mainly didn't let them make it because he'd not finished the script
i really like it, nowhere near as good as the radio series, but still a good appendix to the h2g2 series. the studio wants to make restaurant, that will be awful if they do

douglas adams
wrote the script
I think he also had a lot to do with the casting, but i might be making that bit up)
