# weekly scan updates would be good

# Ah, would that this were possible
However, the next one will not be until 26th March.

As far as I know it's ok though :)

# it is possible if you have enough money to purchase your own ultrasound scanner.
(, Thu 24 Jan 2008, 17:27, archived)
# Er, yes, that may not happen
Of course, if I still had a job, not only could I actually earn some money to make this even vaguely possible, but I could also ask the ultrasound dept very nicely if they wouldn't mind doing quick scans for me once a week, seeing as I arranged to keep the unit working and all that....

# there must be a gadget with a usb that you can buy
so that you do home scans.

get me mr fuji on the phone i've found a niche in the market.

# Well given that the probe alone costs £3500 (second hand)
I'd say it's unlikely
(, Thu 24 Jan 2008, 17:30, archived)
# For a probe
For a high duty cycle, low production unit costs 3500 second hand. Bet it could be brought down a lot for high volume home quality.

# Oh, probably
But then you'd have a load of neurotic women who don't know how to read an ultrasound properly running to A&E because they'd seen something worrying. It's not a wonderful idea. Same reason I don't agree with home bought foetal heart monitors.

# home bought faecal monitors
on the other hand...

# I wonder if we can persuade someone to build a Home Use Manley?
(, Thu 24 Jan 2008, 17:54, archived)
# probably
but could we persaude someone to buy it?
(, Thu 24 Jan 2008, 18:04, archived)
# the cost would plummet once they start getting knocked out in china
no home should be without one, i'm sure it'd have a myriad uses, no more having to stick your hands down the back of the sofa hunting for pens or lost children and stuff.

book me an appointment on dragons den it's a winner for sure.
