# Cos it's evil. But then to be honest
I think it's a silly way of doing it.

It'll only feed their martyr complex and gain them popular sympathy.

I prefer what the guys at Clambake are doing.

# edit: Ok, its evil.

# Although, they're bastards when people want to leave.
And they need to stop making members give them all their money.
Although, other religions ask for money. Even the big one.

# I'm not a big fan of religion generally.
But Scientology is seriously creepy.
It makes Koresh sound like a rational, pleasant guy.
It's designed to fleece gullible and vulnerable people of their money, it strokes the egos of the rich to get more funds and launches vicious, spurious lawsuits against anyone who stands against it (once the verbal threats and character assassinations fail).
It bans the use of psychiatric medicine so that the very people who might be drawn to it are denied proper care - to the extent that one girl died locked in a room in a Scientology 'mental health' centre.

It's a mean, nasty, dirty little cult and I hope it shrivels up and dies.

# You have good points.
I just don't agree with the way that people are trying to do it.

# I have to agree
I doubt the actual real-life impact of slowing down Scientology websites. I can't imagine that it could be anything other than a minor nuisance for Scientology.

And regarding the idea a few have mentioned that Scientology is 'evil': I agree that it's self-interested and uses some dubious methods to ensure it's own success, but the 'evil' tag seems to imply that there's an inherently evil purpose at the heart of it, and I don't think that's strictly true. It's only evil in the same very that big corporations are 'evil'. As in, not strictly built on malicious intent, just preoccupied with their own success.

# not ALL big corporations
if you could name a corporation that was to sell you a piece of crap that was potentially lethal, on the premise that it would help you, and then demand money through menaces and make you cut yourself off from your family, then yes, like that company.

# have to disagree about the "not evil" thing
It's not really a religion, so you can't protect it that way.

I hear that it's a made-up "ideology" that stems from a bet made by L. Ron Hubbard - "I bet I can make a lot of money from creating my own religion". And he did. So why close it down?

Any practice that has a central tenet of "give us ALL of your money, and then some more, in order to feel a bit better about yourself" is not just creepy, it's evil.

# Yeah,
..Yeah, i've said that abit wrong.
I agree, it is bad. But raiding places and such is stupid.
And I'm not trying to defend the things they've done

Its wrong, i don't think it should be allowed to make people give them money, i also know that they ruin peoples lives when they leave,

and is that true?
"L. Ron Hubbard - "I bet I can make a lot of money from creating my own religion". And he did. So why close it down?"
So its just a scam. And tbh, with all the moneyness, it sounds like one.
