# Gort!

But really I just wanted to point you to this where you should look to the right and click to watch the Rubiks Robot do his thing 'cos it's effing cool!

Also, I got my 'Cinema Reserve' copy of The Day The Earth Stood Still today off Play.com for only a fiver, it's bloody fantastic, both in the packaging, extras and quality of the cleaned up main feature, and I thoroughly recommend it!

The sooner all these popular bit torrent sites are closed the better. The internet savvy can get on with sharing files the fastest and most anonymous way they have always done for the last 30 years. We can do without millions of teenage kids stealing music and bringing the subject into the news every week.

# true
but as i said you can't stop it now
muhahahaha etc...
(, Thu 31 Jan 2008, 20:27, archived)
# of course it will stop.
The protocol has already been hijacked for commercial distribution and the torrent indexing sites are dropping like flies under legal pressure. Once there are no more large indexing sites then you will have a few badly seeded files on obscure sites when someone who has taken it from an ftp dump or newsgroup can be bothered to put it out there.
Scene distributors have already stopped supporting the torrent groups by no longer posting releases. It will die a slow and lingering death because it has been doing since before demonoid went.

i was talking more about the ethos of file sharing really

# I still don't get why these kids do it so casually
they're downloading music that they like, by artists they like. Surely if you like the music or the artist you should give them some cash/support by buying the cd?

I'm all for try before you buy, but that just isn't what the masses do. No wonder the world is utterly fucked if it is beeing populated by people with no respect even for the people they admire.

# I buy CDs, but I'm a hoarder.

if all you've got is mp3 files on a hard drive, you can't look at your bookshelf and go fuck me I've got a lot of CDs.
and obviously if you don't back-up your files, well..
(, Thu 31 Jan 2008, 20:47, archived)
# I'm the same way.
As soon as I've settled down a bit I can put up a mighty shelf of CDs and be proud.

# Nice rant.
Personally I like to own the physical CD, so I tend to buy anyway.
The internet is very good for discovering new bands, but downloading an entire discography of an artist is outright theft.
