terrible at realism! I tried a water bottle the other day.

That's about the best I can do.

Honestly the only way you can improve is to forge your self loathing into a sword and then press on with in.
Also if your art teacher hasn't done perspective yet, kill him and have him replaced.
I mean I look at JollyJack and just want to hack off his hands and sew them to my own, hence why I refuse to use reference and just keep working.
So eventually i'll build up a solid mental stash of perspective, anatomy and poses to be able to draw imaginary scenes and catgirls licking shotguns.
Top tip: drawing in biro is helpful. Then if you make mistakes you just keep drawing over the lines in a vaguely expressionist fashion and also learn to work any mistakes out.
You can generally just keep layering the drawing until it looks right, like an oil painting.

I was really really bored in English.
I don't get art until next school year. I don't know what the curriculum will be like, though. I'm hoping to get some perspective and such, though. For perspective I've been doing a lot of googling on vanishing points and stuff.
I don't really like JollyJack's stuff, and here's why: He's really talented. He knows perspective, proportion, comic illustration, anatomy, all that. And he wastes it on those (IMO) shitty drawings of misproportioned catgirs and SWT. It's just unfortunate, to me, like wasted talent.
Biro? Really? Okay. I will remember that one. :]

JJ is a founding member BTW. [/;-D
Reality is, those are toss offs. His
talent is dark, and it's the ones
between the T & A that count.

he's a founding member? Why? If he doesn't like what he draws, then why not stop?

...to morn the 'death' of Sherlock.
And he's not that well paid at his day job.
But that's just my view. Ask him. He might answer.

But I fear this thread of conversation has gone on so long that no-one is reading anymore.

Indeed it has, and I've done my bit as JJ's apologist for now.

Well i've never actually seen JollyJack draw anything other than the kind of stylistic characters he draws, that's to say i've never seen him do anything Frank Miller style or something.
But it may be a case of his drawing ability and style resting in that kind of comic drawing. As for catgirls and stuff goes, many believe that the ultimate aim of art is to portray the human form.
If he wants to imbelish it a bit, I don't see the difference. I think most people if they could draw really well would want to portray men/women in vaguely romantic/erotic/pornographic situations. For the same reason they read and write romantic novels and literature.

But i didn't feel like typing it out. Now I have. oh well. *shrugs*
No, I understand that, and like, I hear what you're saying. But it's just my opinion. I've never liked that big titted, overly skinny style, and then why you add the ears and tail, I just dislike it even more. ;]

Whatever your feeling towards his and his fan's motivations towards the art, it is essentially only a singular perspective.
Equally if you suddnely got ridiculously good at drawing someone could say, 'typical androgynous emo/goth/whatever boy types'. What a waste.
There's nothing against drawing what you like, although I suppose he may not neccessarily be overly fond of it given the amount of irony is some of the stuff.
Don't let whatever stereotypes or own life experiences steep your view of the validity of his work.
Also: I'm looking forwards to the androgynous emo/goth/whatever boy erotica.

It's just a 'if you poked she'd just fall. that's a bit silly' kind of opinion. ;]
Okay, good point. Fair, and all. Just unfortunate. I dunno. I'd love to see him post something else.
Also: Well, it's not gonna appear on your watch...
