

I've been trying to make smoke. This is my first attempt.
Not perfect by a long way but I quite liked the shapes so I thought I'd share :)

It's a simple process, but I keep being too fussy and stiff with it.
The way I eventually got this to sort-of work was to make two layers of smoke that looked pretty much ok, then overlaid them, then liquified them all over again.
As soon as I did the second liquify, they started to look better.

i would illustrate it in graph form but as i hate graphs with a passion i won't.

I'm no expert but I find ( for some technical reason not known to me ) that if you paint anything like smoke, glints, lights or fire on to a completely black later then make this layer screen mode on top of a background layer the effect of the smoke etc seems to become much more vivid ( great for making starfields and comets and such ). Just a tip I thought I'd share.
