i've become really gay...

I tend to have to be in a certain mood, but if I am, I will cry at anything. In fact, the worst things for me are American sitcoms. Particularly last episodes.
Certain war films make me cry lots, but they have to be credible ones. I didnt cry when I saw U-571 or Pearl Harbour ;)
But I find that War poetry gets me more than films.
This one by Siegfried Sassoon particularly....
'Good Morning; Good Morning!' the General said
When we met him last week on our way to the line.
Now the soldiers he smiled at are most of 'em dead,
And we're cursing his staff for incompetent swine.
'He's a cheery old card,' grunted Harry to Jack
As they slogged up to Arras with rifle and pack.
* * *
But he did for them both by his plan of attack.

they're a bit too sacchirine for me. vietnam movies really me. as do any others that really focus on conscripted soldiers. they really kill me.
i'm more a wilfred owen fan than sassoon. particularly Anthem for a doomed youth.

Wilfred Owen. But the way Siegfried Sassoon could summarise emotions so succinctly always gets me.
My ma got me a couple of new War Poetry books the other day, so Ive been reading lots recently :)

have you seen flags of our fathers and letters from iwo jima by any chance? they're incredible war movies. a true sensitivity from clint eastwood in the directors chair. I heartily recommend them.

that bit at the end with the band when one of them says 'no one is listening' and another replies, 'they never have'

Being a heterosexal male, I feel I cry far too easily at films.
I'm particularly sensitive to ET and Leon. The Goonies gets a blubber too frequently.
