# Sorry, it's a very geeky one...
LaTeX - pronounced "Lay-tech"* - is a typesetting mark-up language which is a geeky alternative to using a word processor.

EDIT: @slight - of course I'm ashamed. I even wrote the LaTeX file for it so I could get it to look convincing.

*Yes, that in itself sounds a bit like a futuristic double entendre...

# geeky?
well, i guess anyone writing equations *is* a bit geeky so yeah. though i've taken to using it instead of a word processor pretty much the whole time.

# Well, I suppose it's considered geeky
in the sense that it takes longer to figure out than Word does. A bit like the difference between people who use software packages to design web pages and those who prefer to code in HTML.

# Don't worry
I embrace my geekiness :)

(I prefer to code in HTML, too. That says a lot. I also disdain all these WYSIWYG LaTeX editors and just use Emacs. Even on Windows. Fucking hell, I really am a nerd.)

# wussy
real geeks use vi

# I use VI
for a lot of programming, especially Makefiles and small changes to source codes, including LaTeX source. For dealing with a bigger document I'll use Emacs.

I'm an equal-opportunities geek.
