# JeadThrack
Fnord, if you're around, what did you use to edit the domo darko video(which by the way was the best piece of editing and videomaking i've ever seen)though I'm pretty sure you've heard that already

# I used Vegas Video
which is made by Sonic Foundry. Ignore the name, it's not really anything to do with bright light cities going to set your souls on fire or anything. Sound Forge, also by them is a top quality music editing program too.

# many thanks,
but I'm a poor college student and thats faaar too expensive for me. know any free alternatives?
(, Tue 25 Feb 2003, 4:11, archived)
# I think they do a free trial version
you have to fly around the Earth backwards in a lear jet though to make it last as long as I have.
As far as totally free goes there may be cut down versions of products that get bundled with video cards etc. You could probably pic on of those up.
I'm loathed to mention the old 5-click discount as b3ta's not that kind of place really but i have heard of people downloading illegal software on some less reputable file sharing programs.

# ah! many thanks
certainly would help if i read the page fully, huh?

# the cheapest, cheapest way
is to use a movie2Gif converter you can get for free from here www.afterdawn.com.
However you have to have the movie in the the first place, you can't point it at a DVD and say "go".
Also there would be no sound.
Alternatviyl you may be able to get away with QuicktimePro (i havn't used it but apparently it video editing stuff).

I'm currently trying to teach myself premiere....

# I tried Premiere
I used it a year ago actually to make a nice video called Grab My Shaft. I should probably upload that again. A similar thing It was a song I really liked and I used stop motion animation footage off the net.
Premiere won't load for me though, crashes when loading filters etc. That's why i used Vegas really and i'm so pleased I did because Domo Darko would have been VERY different in premiere. I haven't figured it out yet you see.

I'll upload Grab My Shaft for y'all.

# click my profile, or to save you the horror of that
here ya go www.fnord.myby.co.uk - the best thing to do is download the avi rather than try to watch it unless you have nice broadband, you could download the avi and watch the realplayer version while it downloads. There's a link to divx5 in case you don't have that.
(, Tue 25 Feb 2003, 4:32, archived)
# Oooh avi!
Didn't know there was one and was afeared that I'd have to infect my computer with the realplayer in order to view this glorious thing. Downloading now. Hooray fnord.

edit: Have just watched it twice, watching again now. Is gooooood!

/back to lurking and feeling icky

# I get into loops myself
the problem with the avi is that windows media player will just loop forever without you doing and by the time you snap out of the daze it puts you in it's started again.
With realplayer it stops and doesn't loop so the spell is broken for you.
(, Tue 25 Feb 2003, 4:47, archived)
# Don't know why
it's looping on playback for you. When I play the Domo Darko avi version, it stops at the end... though at the moment I pretty much just hit 'play' again :). Probably I'm stating the obvious here, but if you're using Windows Media Player, you can uncheck Play --> Repeat. The setting is memorized, you'll only have to do it once.

Another thing worth mentioning: the free version of divX 5 contains spyware. The version called "divX;-) v3" does not, and the clip works perfectly with it. There are still plenty of sites with v3 available for free download. I got mine from here. It's labelled "3.11 Alpha" on the site.
(, Tue 25 Feb 2003, 5:06, archived)
# Thanks, it wasn't really a complaint that it looped.
It just makes it easier for me to become entranced by it ;)
And thanks about divx, I link to that site so maybe i'll change the link to just that one rather than 5.

Quick 'n' dirty - Jumping on a bandwagon from earlier - say what you see...
Hahahaha!
On a separate note, just been listening to "God Gave Rock 'n' Roll To You" by Kiss - it was on the Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey Soundtrack - nostalgia rush wipes tear from eye - good times
