That would be a personal choice. I've had 2 M3's. An original import ( 1 of 500 ) left hand drive and a later E36. I think they are the same as ford escort RS's now. driven by dickheads.
I'm on my second M5 and it is without doubt the best saloon car ever made and the second most fun to drive ( the most fun sits next to it in the garage )

a Merc 320E Elegance and trust me, they don't come close. I've driven an AMG SEC 500 which is about as close Merc can get to the M5 and it's not even close.
I had a Merc 300SL, it's like a rowing boat.
You can't judge a vehicle until you have had to pay for it with your own cash. That's why I have had 2 M5's and 2 Skylines with my new GTR on order.
I know it's subjective and biased but I can assure you that beyond the SLR I don't believe Mercedes make a car that excites me as much as I am when I look at my old tub.
