# i'm sorry
I was being childish, i have a shitty second hand dell monitor that someone swapped for my shitty noname brand monitor.

edit if I had to recommend one I would go for this.

and probably be disappointed when it arrived

# don't really need speakers

edit : i found this but it makes my brain hurt en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD#PVA

# bless you

£124.08 :O

# !
How dare your sir! That's the very monitor I'm looking at now.

Except it's branded "Avanhard"

It's nice

(ly priced)

Oh! and mines 22" not 17"

Not really the same at all then

Sigh

# ahhaa
perhaps you could give skug a link. I'm a bit lost on tease new fangled flat ones
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 19:38, archived)
# I am currently
using one of these as my gaming monitor for world of warcraft.

www.ebuyer.com/product/131916

The resolution is crap but considering I bought it as a TV for the bedroom and I don't like the quality much I decided to use it as a monitor and it's not bad. Could not be arsed to send it back because "I think it's a shitty TV" and it was on offer £270 when I bought it.

edit: I also play wow on one of these

www.ebuyer.com/product/145232

but I have to kick her out of the TV room to use it.
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 20:19, archived)
# trouble is if I'm going to spend that kinda £££ on a tv/monitor
Id like to see it in action before i commit
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 20:29, archived)
# Not worth it as
a TV ( but I've been told the screens are now Samsung made and they were not when I got mine ). I was not happy with the quality. As a monitor it's passable but the resolution is a bit low and it can't handle HD signals ( even though the TV is HD compliant, it only has VGA input )
I'm using it because I have it and it's ok for gaming but not really a serious monitor option. The Toshiba Regza is brilliant as either but then that's what you pay for.

If you are on a budget and want a good contrast ratio monitor then look no further than this

I have used LG for years and they are one of the biggest companies in their field. I think they are excellent quality. Still got my 6 year old LG Studioworks CAD CRT monitors and they are working like new.

# sorry i fell off the internet then...
looking for something to fill a horizontal gap of 34" :D
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 21:15, archived)
# hmm thats quite
a gap you got there
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 21:27, archived)
# its the wall inside my cupboard :D
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 21:28, archived)
# Lions
and witches... are you sure you want that desk space back I think its superior having electron guns in the back of a monitor.
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 21:52, archived)
# Then you are going to
have to spend a grand on a 30" monitor or get a high quality TV with HDMI and have an HDMI DX10 graphics card that is compatible.
If you just want something that works then any 32" good quality TV will do the job but don't expect hi def resolution.
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 22:05, archived)
#
To accomodate the above picture?
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 19:27, archived)
# yes
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 19:28, archived)
# i've got it set on 1024x768 at the mo (i think)
but it does go upto 1600xsomething stupid
I just want a flatter monitor so I can put my keyboard back on the desk!
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 19:29, archived)
# Oh
the flatter bit kind of rule mine out then ;)

I have two IIyamas (vision master pro 454).
Relatively cheap nowadays, perfect picture, but rather big.
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 19:31, archived)
# cant you get a deeper desk?
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 19:34, archived)
# its already in the cupboard
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 19:34, archived)
# perhaps if you removed
Some cups and exchange them for more monitor... Or my amazing idea of using a complex series of mirrors.
edit : now I have gained 4 inches of desk space by using my windowsill hazaa! This results in the having a clear patch of desk makes the rest of the desk look untidy. hmm found a usb port on my keyboard.. and a web cam. and a stick of ddr2 memory that was under my monitor.

edit : I have marked some points of interest on a sort of map so I can use it to find things later.
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 19:41, archived)
# usb port in your keyboard?
strange place to put it...
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 19:54, archived)
# yeah its a strange keyboard
the camera didn't work in the keyboard however so I used another usb port. I have lots in total I think I now have about 50 or so.
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 20:01, archived)
# lots of usb ports?
I had 14 but i removed a few to put my camera card reader in
(, Sun 3 Aug 2008, 20:04, archived)
#
Ahh they aren't all in the one computer. I have them spread out all over the house.
