# hehehe
good one, but i'm afraid the aspostrophe police are about to kick your door in and take you out the back for some 're-education'

# On you maybe.
100's is corrent.

As in 70's, 90's.
(, Thu 6 Nov 2008, 12:43, archived)
# er, no
they are plurals, as is "100s" so they don't have apostrophes.

# I was under the impression that it classed as an abrieviation
therfore warrented an apostrophe.
(, Thu 6 Nov 2008, 12:56, archived)
# Well technically it is an abbreviation,
but it's abbreviated from "1970s" so if you do use an apostrophe, it goes before it i.e. '70s.

Ahem, lecture over, sorry, but this is something that really riles me at the moment. Degredation of the English language and all that.

# I've just been reading up about apostropes.
Apparently you don't use one in this situation (unless you're shortening 1970s to '70s in which case the apostrophe goes at the front).

One day I'll get the hang of the English language...

# talking of grammar fascism
are we still to address you as powderfinger in formal situations, or is it your former identity? :D
(, Thu 6 Nov 2008, 12:46, archived)
# Call me Mr Shitpeas
or Barry if you prefer. powderfinger is now defunct!
(, Thu 6 Nov 2008, 12:52, archived)
# Ah.
So you were formerly powderfinger then - glad we cleared that up, Mr. Shi- er, Barry. ;)

# Don't blame me!
I generally know where apostrophes should and shouldn't go; in this case I was simply mimicing the mistake typical of the average sign-writer.

ahem.

# *raises eyebrows*
Ok then, they'll probably just let you off with a caution, as long as it's a first offence.

And that's just plain rude!
