an atheist with being religious. Atheism is merely a lack of belief in something surely?

Atheist is believing that there are no deities and when you're dead your dead and living your life in accordance to this rather than letting it be guided by a church or by religious tenets.
Most people that say they're atheists are actually agnostic. When push comes to shove the chances are they'll start thinking or praying to a god.
I am an atheist and I don't think there is no god I know there is no god.

second I believe you are slightly misinterpreting the definition of agnostic.
ripped from wikipedia:
"Agnosticism (Greek: α- a-, without + γνώσις gnsis, knowledge; after Gnosticism) is the philosophical view that the truth value of certain claims — particularly metaphysical claims regarding theology, afterlife or the existence of deities, ghosts, or even ultimate reality — is unknown or, depending on the form of agnosticism, inherently impossible to prove or disprove. It is often mistakenly put forth as a middle ground between theism and atheism.[1]"
So there would be no real point 'when push comes to shove' that an agnostic would start to pray. I can't remember the term that is used to describe such a person though (*retreats from arguing further*)

I worked. Although in the UK it's a national holiday and I normally do celebrate it I tend to spend it with friends and it's no way a religious celebration it's more of a celebration of friendship.

You think there is no God. Agnostics don't think there is no God, they feel there is no God.
...unless you really are dogmatic about it. Our language isn't really ready to accommodate the idea of being certain but fallible, unfortunately. The only attitudes we can easily express are "I am in doubt" or "I am an authoritarian shit".

Sorry about my habit of posting before I've decided what to write.
