# parka batman
was possibly *the* best thing about being a child in the 70s & early 80s. possibly only surpassed by conkers and football stickers.

# yay- strikes
nothing better than getting the day off for no apparent reason. (at least at the time I thought so)

# But the bestest
thing about parkas was flipping them up over your head like a big sail during strong winds and trying to fly backwards.

WARNING: doing this on the school's concrete playground may result in severe head injuries.

# hahaha
that brings back wonderful childhood memories of me and my brother almost being blown off the back of a channel ferry as kids when "doing the parka batman"

# Or the time
Tiddles my brother was sick over the side of the ferry and poor little me was stood downwind from him. I got it in the face. Tiddles and my mum laughed all the way to France.

# i'm sorry, that made me laugh out loud
cross channel ferries are a never ending source of great childhood stories.

# Tsk! Laughing at my misfortune.
I'm shocked.
On the way back from an exchange trip to France we convinced the one girl who'd bought fags (we were 13) that customs were searching school parties and that she'd end up in prison. She smoked 200 fags in the 5 hour journey - just lighting them and throwing them in the sea. Silly cow. This was also the trip when some boys fed the seagulls bicarbonate of soda.

# Hee hee
and to think that all we did on our school trip was to play volley johnny and set off firecrackers in the restaurant.
