Our England is a garden, and such gardens are not made
By singing 'Oh how wonderful' and sitting in the shade,
While better men than we go out, and start their working lives
By grubbing weeds from garden paths with broken dinner knives.

We've had a problem with tiger lillies in our garden since we moved in the house about 1 years ago. Not only do they spread underground, but if you let them seed, the seed pods explode and scatter the seeds everywhere. They really do explode, too. I used to think it was kids throwing stones over the wall.
Nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

You'll have a job - you need a good garden fork and you'll have to dig out every bit of the root system every time one appears.
You'll have got rid of them in about 2 years.
I just got my garden looking perfect after 4 years and then I moved :(
