It's just that their sketch show is dreadful, and no-one seems to rate the film.
Gavin and Stacey is still brilliant though

I dipped my toe into Horne and Corden, didn't really do anything for me. Bland sketches based around very shoddy writing

I enjoyed the Born Again Christians until the song, and the "I shagged your mum" sketch.
I think they've got potential to be quite good.
I know everyone in tellyland is wetting themselves about them because of Gavin & Stacey, but I still think they're good.

because they are popular with affluent teenagers who will spend money on mobile clips and whatnot

The same reason pop music is, er ... poplier.
I think Nirvana put it well entitling one of their songs "Radio-friendly Unit-Shifter".

Finally caught up with Gavin & Stacey over the last couple of months on BBC3, and loved every minute of it.
It's a shame about their sketch show, as I think they had some real potential. I found James Corden hilarious on 8 Out of 10 Cats and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. The film reviews I've seen are, without exception, damning, so I'll steer clear.
