My laptop has been used by the missus' dad over the weekend and last I heard he was complaining how shit it was being, all slow and non-compliant, oh and whenever he loaded a new window (after closing mine on a whim, including all the ongoing interests I keep to be dealt with, as well as the many regular tabs) it went to a spammy game site despite what my options were set to.
How strange that said site somehow had his distintive login name pre-filled. Nothing to do with the dubious site though, couldn't be, he has money on it.

And google for a tutorial. You'll need to use HijackThis to get a log, then find someone willing to expolain what each process is/whether it's a problem (there are some forums dedicated to it). You can work it out yourself by googling each one but it'd be better to get an expert's help.

I'll try a few standard bits and pieces, make sure it isn't something easily and quickly solvable, then I'll be getting around to pretty much this. I'm so tired this weekend, I only just managed to bite my tongue on some serious grumpiness when I realised I was probably going to have to be jumping through these kind of hoops!
