it's been ages since i animated anything, and the gimp is a terrible reintroduction to the process. can anyone recommend me a nice free (properly free) animation doodad for linux or windows?

hedgehog is lovely & extra woos for gimping - I was far to lazy to work out how to use it properly
unfortunately I have no info on free animation stuff :(
EDIT: can I drop this poo here?

free version doesn't export to gif, but will save as avi, if that's any use.

synfig is much better for "real" animation, but it isn't exactly a polished piece of software. (and then I use GIMP to stitch the rendered PNG frames into a single animation, since synfig's GIF output was terrible last time I tried).
