i'd go to youtube and listen to
the kinks: "waterloo sunset", and "sunny afternoon" and "all day and all night", which i'd guess you'll have heard over a lot of your life
the who: "my generation", "the kids are alright" and "pictures of lily". you'd know the first and maybe the others. (and "boris the spider", of course.)
it doesn't matter whether you've heard of the bands or not. *everyone* should go to youtube and listen to these songs.
and the album "help!" by the beatles which i've recently become convinced was their best.
i'd also like to court controversy by calling the rolling stones' "exile on main st" deeply over-rated.

I just don't get into having strong feelings about any of them, it gets in the way. I just listen to a song and I like it or not

The Beatles were bigger than Jesus. The Who were bigger than Mohammed, the Kinks bigger than Buddah, and the Stones bigger than Guru Nanak. It's only natural that people would then swap their focus from these discredited old idols and venerate new ones.

I'll burn your embassy if you disagree.
Oprah might be bigger than Roseanne Barr. It's hard to say because they've not started making scales out of reinforced steel yet.
