I do the shopping because I spend significantly less than Mrs B. does if she were to go, mainly because I only buy what we need, I don't wander around like a confused cuckoo looking for shiny things

Fruit and veg comes from a greengrocers, not a supermarket.
Although they tend to give you the good stuff anyway, as if it's unsatisfactory you just send it back with the driver and it ends up costing them money to transport it to you.

it's rural areas that have suffered the most. Big cities and towns are teaming with greengrocers. Every town covered market will have at least one, for example.

(It's magpies that are obsessed with shiny things - cuckoos throw eggs out of other birds' nest and dump their own in there. They don't even do CRB checks before they drop the eggs off, FFS.)
