# I thought his recent Darwin series was rather fascinating
I quite like the bloke to be honest, and the general drift as to what he's on about, and don't grasp why people get so furious about his personal opinions on the experience of being alive. He doesn't advocate violence or anything, so what get's people so uptight? All he's doing is advocate his interpretation of human reason. He's not even that 'fanatical' inso far as what I see from various faith-based ideologies in the world who seem bent on enforcing mysticism and superstition upon other people whether we like it or not.

# I like what he says
just find him arrogant. as arrogant as the views he opposes.

Selfish gene is without doubt one of the best books of the past 100 years. odd to think its written in the 70's. his work on phenotypes also remains outstanding.

still dont like him tho...

# I don't see any apparent perception of arrogance as an issue to be honest
Faith isn't arrogant?
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 22:45, archived)
# his comments
e.g 'In order not to believe in evolution you must either be ignorant, stupid or insane...'

he is no Betrand Russell.

its his attitude not his belief/views I find annoying

# These fundamentalists do go on.
And I don't particularly want to hear it from bible thumpers or evangelical Atheists. They are all entitled to their opinions (on /talk) and equally open to ridicule.

And you wonder why people find him irritating?
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 23:00, archived)
# Err.. no
He writes books and stuff, and presents the odd television program

Seems standard fair to me; "evangelical Atheists." seems a slightly stupid term given i've never had that impression off his television work, and to be honest have never read a book of his given I actually couldn't give a fuck at the end f the day to be that bothered

Apparently they might be quite interesting, though I doubt if i'll get round to it; simply not what I can be arsed to spend my time doing so

Realistically, and in all honestly, have you ever encountered an evangelical Atheist in your High Street, outside the tube station, or at your door at ten in the morning on a fucking Sunday?
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 23:14, archived)
# Um
outcampaign.org/ (from his website--pretty evangelical stuff)
