i can understand why the auto cannons are cut out of the theatrical versionthere can only be around a hundred aliens and those guns must rip apart at least that many. 4 guns x 500 bullets x charging aliens = problem solved.

But isn't the point that they quickly work out how to trigger the guns without getting hit?I can't remember exactly what happens, though.

surely the pile of dead alienswould have just melted through the floor and caused major structural damage, thus toppling the sentry guns?
The aliens in 'aliens' have got well watery blood compared to that bastard facehugger in 'alien' - one wee nick melted through several floors of a spaceship!
