# They take something like 10% of your money.
Depends if you think that's worth the convenience
(, Tue 15 Dec 2009, 18:49, archived)
# They take like 7%.
I think they are quite convenient to be honest.

Also, I think a portion of that goes to charity.

# I prefer to put my pennies to good use.
They're in a box which I use as a book stop.
(, Tue 15 Dec 2009, 18:57, archived)
# Pfft!
Why don't you take them to Sainsburys and cash them in, then you can by enough books to fill the rest of the shelf? Didn't think of that one did ya!
(, Tue 15 Dec 2009, 19:00, archived)
# It's a mantlepiece, I need bookstops anyway.
I'm saving them in case I desperately need 1p sweets.

# i can understand why the auto cannons are cut out of the theatrical version
there can only be around a hundred aliens and those guns must rip apart at least that many. 4 guns x 500 bullets x charging aliens = problem solved.
(, Tue 15 Dec 2009, 19:25, archived)
# But isn't the point that they quickly work out how to trigger the guns without getting hit?
I can't remember exactly what happens, though.
(, Tue 15 Dec 2009, 19:30, archived)
# surely the pile of dead aliens
would have just melted through the floor and caused major structural damage, thus toppling the sentry guns?

The aliens in 'aliens' have got well watery blood compared to that bastard facehugger in 'alien' - one wee nick melted through several floors of a spaceship!
(, Tue 15 Dec 2009, 19:32, archived)
# Also, thinking like : "...there can only be around a hundred aliens..." is what gets people killed.
It goes with "That noise was just the cat" and "We're finally safe here" as unwise thoughts.

Take them to the bank. No admin fees.

Alternatively, use them on buses. Nothing engladdens a bus driver like 3 quid in loose copper coinage.

they take a nice little chunk. For a publicity scheme once they found some guy who had like $4 million in pennies, and offered to change them for him, but the bank wouldn't take it, and the armored truck they used to carry them all around sunk into the guys front garden and had to be pulled out by a crane
