# First try with Photoshop

Click for bigger (89 kb)

I know this does not excuse the crap hand - I was getting tired and as it was a test rushed it somewhat, so please ignore it.
Constructive criticism please? If it's really that bad, I promise I won't draw again, honest :)
And hope it's not too big, if its please tell me and I will (try to) fix it.

# Hmmm. The forearms are too short. The hand is a bit weird. The head is offset to (her) right.
Thighs are quite large, though not necessarily disproportionate (sturdy!).

That said, I can't draw at all - only criticise! :)

# Also, weirdly I have a female cousin called "Rae".
(, Sat 6 Feb 2010, 13:55, archived)
# I think the thighs just need to taper more towards the knee.
Also I can't draw either, as above!

# I just think a little more drawing practise is needed;
Anatomy practise in particular.

But that's what everyone says, huh?

# This.
Get one of those little model figures, with posable arms.

One of these bastards:

they're always hanging around in arts shops. Don't know what they cost, though.

# I had one called Norris.

# They have weird lightbulb-shaped heads, though. But I guess everyone can draw heads. Right? RIGHT?!

# Good Anime style
However I personally feel anime drawing is to proper drawing what mime is to shakespear

Personal opinion - find your own stlye and people wont instantly judge

# Are you Japanese? I think the Japanese would like this.

# P.S. Anime is garbage, so my advice is: don't do it.

# :(
Sad face sad face

# But what about giant flying killer robot squads? How else can such things be drawn?
(, Sat 6 Feb 2010, 14:03, archived)
# In a way which isn't garbage, ideally.
(, Sat 6 Feb 2010, 14:06, archived)
# Non-garbage is a bar I attempt to strive for in many areas.
(, Sat 6 Feb 2010, 14:08, archived)
# Not just giant robots, that is.
(, Sat 6 Feb 2010, 14:08, archived)
# Sadly, sometimes I fail. Here is my 5 min attempt at a flying robot:

# I also advise that nobody else do anything that isn't to my tastes.
(, Sat 6 Feb 2010, 14:09, archived)
# But what if you like things I do not like? This is simply unacceptable.
(, Sat 6 Feb 2010, 14:14, archived)
# It's almost as if this kind of ideal were fundamentally unobtainable.
(, Sat 6 Feb 2010, 14:14, archived)
# This is utterly appalling news, Moontech :(

# i tend to
agree

# Thankyou
For the tips people. I think overall I just need some more practice.
Might have a look at the doll thing, too.

Normally I draw in pencil, but I thought for putting stuff on the web using Photshop for colouring and shading would be better as pencil can be too light.

It is meant to be in anime style, but I think if I'd said that I'd be offending real anime/manga artists. I quite like anime/manga, but each to their own. I would point out that there are a lot of different styles within manga.

I'm not Japanese though ^_^ I don't like mech manga, I prefer stuff like Death Note and Yu-Yu Hakusho. I'm curently reading Labyrinth (sequel to the film)

# Your use
of shadow and light is very good, the body shape needs a little practise as previously stated. But overall definately talent in there!
