staples, yes. there are pros and cons to them, but mine caused me no trouble and were easy to pop out.

If they hadn't and I broke my leg again the result would have resembled a jigsaw of bone fragments. So out it came. good as new now, but I did have one really skinny leg and one normal leg for a while.. Not a good look
