Who Goes There - short story
The original 1938 sci-fi story "The Thing" was based on. Never bothered reading it before because TL;DR LOL, but its interesting to see how close John Carpenter's film sticks to it.

The film is a lot better after reading this. The 'mind reading' aspect wasn't well explained.

i liked how the characters in the story ask a lot of questions that the film raised without addressing
though I'm still a bit confused about the cellular-take-over process.

This was out of print for decades....
I read it a few years ago - seems really quite modern for the 1930s when it was written.
