This is a link post Rather super powered wheel
I'm surprised no-one's bought this to market before.

This is a normal post Burn the witch!
Really cool and as you say amazing that it's not been done before.

This is a normal post Bindun
Velogical, Rubbee, Centinel, Copenhagen wheel, FlyKly, Evelo, Omniwheel, electron wheel...
To name but eight

This is a normal post I've just looked at all of those
They are all solutions to motorising pedal transport, but none of them use this method (well perhaps the evelo ominwheel, that looks to be similar, but I can't see the internals)?

This is a normal post The rubbee and the centinel both drive the wheel
His drives the rim, they drive the tyre. Potato potato

This is a normal post OK, but can he reinvent the bag?

This is a normal post See at 4:16 how the rim is way out of round?
That's a problem. The brakes won't even work safely. By the time they get something that isn't a liability nightmare, it's going to weigh a ton.

This is a normal post I was just thinking, 'What if you hit a pothole on that?'
And how does the inner channel of the rim (the bit the motor touches) stay clear of water/dirt? I hate to be negative on new ideas and obviously earnest inventors, but this is a solution in search of a non-existent problem. We already have motorised bicycles for people who want them.

This is a normal post I'd want it to use regenerative braking as well
The other issue with the design is the unsprung weight. Despite the show-off wheelie-ing the bike, the battery and the motor gubbins are going to be much heavier than a normal wheel, so it will be a bastard to ride on a bumpy surface.

This is a normal post And at 3:21 you can see an inner tube valve sticking out
...but you don't see it later when the wheel spins round.
And at 3:57 it seems to shift forward when riding it.
Hmmmmm!
I wonder which parts of this vid are actually authentic.

This is a normal post so a completely different wheel on your bike than the back one
just so you can be a lazy cunt for a few minutes? Yeah no thanks. Can't see this taking off with anyone who has an expensive bike. What about your existing braking system and quality wheels?

This is a normal post why not its a piece of piss to change the front wheel on a bike these days, takes literally seconds.

Easy to retro-fit

This is a normal post I'm surprised
people keep thinking that powering bicycles is the holy grail

The exercise is the fun bit merkins!

This is a normal post The fun bit is the sense of freedom I think.

This is a normal post I think it needs more rollers
Lots of rollers so you can then get rid of the rim and just have the tyre run about the rollers.
Maybe two large wheels of this arrangement side by side. You can steer by braking on one side.
Then you could enclose the rider in some heavy steel sheeting.
Maybe a gun turret on the top for extra protection...

Tank!
