This is a normal post Well, weighing all those flies takes aaaaages. Plus, it's really boring.
Much easier to just weigh two or three and then make an educated, yet cautious guess. If statisticians were paid hourly, we'd probably have a far more accurate figure.

This is a normal post I assume it's pretty easy to come with with a reasonably narrow confidence interval for how much mass a single spider consumes given it's species..
I think the reason these figures are so vague is it's nearly impossible to come up with an estimation of how many spiders there are in the world and the proportions of species.
