This is a link post Decapitated dog kept alive in laboratory conditions
An American film of a Russian experiment.

I would be hesitant to consider it to be real, but it is interesting.

This is a normal post I'm pretty sure
that as a teen I read a Roald Dahl story about this...

Plus, if it was actually possible, then they would have people walking about like RObocop by now.

I would volunteer to be a talking 'futurama' style head, lickety split. As long as I got endless DVDs to watch, & some kind of playstation (that I would play with my brain). Then I'd just wait for virtual reality.

VOILA! Immortal life withing the matrix, and you get to play Warhawk for 50 years while you wait.

Edit:

Oh, and look out for the Rastafarian heart at 7minutes45.

This is a normal post to be fair...
If i realised that I was a head on a plate, kept alive after death of the body, and had been given the chance to live beyond the usual lifecycle and experience conciousness for a couple of hundred years as the first of a new breed of humans, capable of wisdom beyond previous generations, able to lay the foundations for future humans to evolve and truely find answers in this baffling and mysterious universe......

a wank would probably be the last thing on my mind.

This is a normal post You could trick your mind into feeling all that though
they did a thing with women a year or so back where they implanted electrodes into the lower spine, and you could basically bring them to a screaming orgasm by pressing a button.

This is a normal post Hmm
This experiment, where a dog's head is successfully transplanted onto another dog successfully.

The experiment leaves a dog with two heads, sharing bloodstreams and lungs.

Assuming that he hasn't just tucked the puppy's body under the skin (and I don't believe that he has) it's pretty astounding.

This is a normal post wow
that is interesting. But the thing is, it's the whole dog that's making the heart beat as it won't be connected via it's spinal cord, as it doesn't have one.

Well, I think anyway!
