This is a normal post seems like you still dont see the problem with disregarding official public health advice
Do you think the outcome would have been better if everyone had followed whatever advice they could find on youtube rather than what the government was saying?
(, Thu 25 Jun 2020, 15:11, , Reply)
This is a normal post Apparently.
We have the highest death toll in Europe. Our daily deaths resemble the total EU's combined. Countries with masks have done significantly better, as has nearly every other country on Earth except Brazil and the USA.

So yeah.

Right now the official public health advice is deliberately overcomplicated, requiring pages of flow charts and logic diagrams to explain. Messages from government are mixed at best, often chaotic.

I suggest we follow the public health advice from countries with serious leaders and successful covid response policies.

This is a normal post the trouble with that is that there are people who think Trump and Bolsonaro are serious leaders with successful covid policies
Presumably you dont think people should be following their public health advice?

The OP was about how hand sanitiser is ineffective in stopping the spread of coronavirus btw. Do you agree with that?

"The OP was about how hand sanitiser is ineffective in stopping the spread of coronavirus btw" you're twisting my words here, to suit your own argument. again in black and white: if you breath in the virus, hand sanitiser is not going to help you. it does help overall, because it mitigates infection through touching the virus, but alas the vast majority of infections are contracted by breathing. So like I said in March it's not going to have "a big impact". meaning: If we all go about our business with no social distancing and have very clean hands: it's not going to do fuck all to stop the spread by itself . Again, I don't know how much clearer I can show you the truth of the matter.

This is a normal post Trump supporters are probably the same ones who protested against the lockdown and broke the rules in other ways anyway.
I don't think people should be following *some* of the UK government's advice when it contradicts or falls short of international standards.

The initial lack of a quarantine on international travel was insane, but now we are the most infected country in Europe we impose quarantine on people entering from countries with lower infection rates, and impose no quarantine on our own citizens leaving this infected hellhole. The government has announced more changes to the quarantine rules today, just to add to the confusion.

The 'support bubble' scheme is a shambles, even I have friends who have been bubbling people who don't live alone. The bubble system combined with the 7 day 2 households overnight rule is a boolean nightmare.

The 7 day isolation rules have always struck me as weird compared to the WHO standard 14 days.

The 2 meter rule was actually better than the international 1m standard, which is why it's so frustrating to have it watered down to "1m plus."

Soap and water are preferable to hand sanitiser, that has always been the official advice. Over-use of hand sanitiser can dry and split your skin, providing more potential points of infection. Unless there are extenuating circumstances (e.g. you, or someone you are caring for has a compromised immune system) I'd only use it when soap and water aren't available.

When I need to go shopping I wear vinyl gloves and wash my hands before and after. I carry a simple mask in case it is not possible to maintain 2m, and I have a more heavy duty active carbon filter mask for when I know I'm going to be in a crowded situation.

Sorry for the wall of text.

This is a normal post this is just fucking crazy talk mate
Dumb question: but, I'll tell you what I think: I think if everyone did what I did then YES: we would know best practice from the evidence of studies and the advice of experts and from successful systems of mitigation like that in Thailand for example.

This is a normal post yes it's clear that you think you know best
My question was would the outcome have been better if *everyone* had thought they knew best and acted as they pleased, according to whatever shit they could find on the internet, instead of following official public health advice.
(, Thu 25 Jun 2020, 16:21, , Reply)
This is a normal post again, the same fucking stupid premise
If everyone did as I did, and continue to do, then they would not be acting according to whatever shit they found on the internet. They would be acting according to critical thinking, evidence based studies, and expert advice. Your question is wrong because I am not acting as I please, according to whatever shit I could find on the internet. Stop trying to pull shit out of your ass.

This is a normal post Why are you so invested in what others think and do? And do you think your performance here will change any minds? Do you think you’re presenting yourself as a thoughtful, logical person? Because honestly you sound demented.

(, Thu 25 Jun 2020, 18:21, , Reply)
This is a normal post yes i realise this
I know that if you have an argument you look like a dick. ...edit... . interesting that the attack towards me seems to be turning into "why are you talking? you're mental and you're not going to change anyone's mind." Rather than "you're talking shit and you're wrong wrong wrong" which is what is was at the time. also by the way, I made one post on this link. and replied to other peoples points, I didn't set out to go on a mental rant saga. It ended up that way only because of these people arguing with me. so blame them and yourself for feeding the troll.
(, Thu 25 Jun 2020, 21:08, , Reply)
This is a normal post Should I blame myself for your reactions? That is clearly unreasonable, I have no control over you. I really am serious, if you blame others for how you feel and act you will never have a day’s peace.

(, Fri 26 Jun 2020, 15:11, , Reply)
This is a normal post no you should not blame youself, this is true.
I'm trying to say that if you want me to be silent, then don't engage with me. Because all of this horrendous confrontational text I spew is only because people confront me first. It's reactionary.
(, Fri 26 Jun 2020, 16:20, , Reply)
This is a normal post Do bear in mind that not everyone has the same critical thinking facilities as you believe you have

(, Thu 25 Jun 2020, 23:37, , Reply)
This is a normal post well then they COULDN'T think critically then could they?
Which again shows how stupid your question of "what if everyone did as I did" is. Because you've just fucking said that according to you, they can't do as I did.
(, Fri 26 Jun 2020, 10:42, , Reply)
This is a normal post So the people who think they're capable of critical thinking should have done their own research and formulated their own plan of action
The people who don't think they're capable should have followed the government advice, yes?

You think that would have produced a better outcome? Fewer deaths, slower spread, flattened curve etc etc

This is a normal post another flawed nonsense idea trying to put words in my mouth.
just stop trying to trap me with these false equivalencies. I get it, you don't like someone on the internet being mean to you. I'm bored of this.
